Terms

The terms for using blastbeat.

These terms are an agreement between you and Zakk Tapp, who runs blastbeat.app, for using blastbeat.app, the blastbeat app at app.blastbeat.app, and the blastbeat desktop and iOS apps while they use it. By creating an account or using blastbeat, you agree to them. If you don’t, don’t use blastbeat. Questions go to [email protected].

Your account

  • An account is for one person: blastbeat has no teams or shared workspaces. You must be at least 13, and old enough where you live to agree to these terms.
  • Give an email address you can read: blastbeat sends codes and notices there.
  • Keep your password, Second factors and Recovery codes to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account; tell blastbeat at once if someone else gets in.

What you write is yours

You own your Tasks, Notes and everything else you put in blastbeat. You let blastbeat store, copy and show them only as needed to run the service for you, such as keeping backups and syncing your devices. This ends when you delete them or your account, apart from backups, which expire within 30 days. How blastbeat handles your information is on the Privacy page.

Using blastbeat fairly

Don’t use blastbeat to:

  • break the law, or store or send anything you have no right to;
  • send spam or malware, including through your Inbox address;
  • get into another person’s account or data, or probe, scan or attack blastbeat’s systems, other than through a security report to the contact above;
  • overload the service, or reach it through automated means other than the apps and the API they use, at a rate an ordinary person wouldn’t;
  • resell the service, or pass yourself off as blastbeat.

Accounts you connect

If you connect another service, such as a Google account for Calendar and Mail, blastbeat acts there only as you ask: for example, it changes a Calendar Event or archives a Thread when you do. That service’s own terms also apply. You can disconnect it at any time.

The service

blastbeat is free to use today. If that ever changes, you’ll be told by email at least 30 days before you are asked to pay, and nothing you wrote will be held back.

blastbeat is run with care and backed up, but it can be unavailable, and features can change or end. Export your data from Settings › Account whenever you want a copy of your own. These terms also cover this website, the Site, which describes blastbeat and has no account of its own.

Running your own Instance

blastbeat’s source code is published under the MIT License, and anyone can run their own Instance. These terms cover the service at blastbeat.app, not the code. An Instance someone else runs, including one you run yourself, is under its own Admin and whatever terms they set; that Admin is not a party to these terms, and the operator of blastbeat.app is not a party to theirs.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time in Settings › Account. blastbeat may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or others at risk, and will tell you why unless the law or safety forbids it. If blastbeat.app ever shuts down, you’ll be told by email at least 30 days before, with time to export your data.

No warranty

blastbeat is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

Limits of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Zakk Tapp isn’t liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or revenue, arising from your use of blastbeat. Total liability for any claim about blastbeat is limited to 50 US dollars. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes about them are heard in the state or federal courts in Delaware. This doesn’t take away rights the law where you live gives you.

Changes

When these terms change, the date above changes too, and a material change is emailed to you at least 30 days before it takes effect. Using blastbeat after then means you accept the new terms; if you don’t, delete your account.
